2. Bärenbusch (bear bush)

Popularly called „Bäärebusch“.

The root word „bush“ was used to describe the wood or forest that lies on the hill that separates the valley Sulzbachtal from the valley Hainbuchental coming from Schwanden. The modifier can go back to the Middle High German words „ber“ or „bber“, which mean either berry or bear. In retrospect, it is no longer possible to determine with certainty which of the two original words was the main factor for the naming. However, the New High German spelling „Bärenbusch“ chosen in the original cadastre of 1845 suggests that it was more likely the bears that gave the forest its name.
